Your Baby's Birth Day is Important To Us
Located at The Memorial Hospital at Easton, Shore Health System's Birthing Center provides expectant mothers and their families with a host of services including educational programs on Labor and Delivery, New Mom New Baby & Infant Safety, Breastfeeding, Big Brother & Big Sister, and Infant CPR.
Private birthing suites with special lighting and homelike amenities create an atmosphere of comfort. The suites are equipped with the latest technological devices. Should a mom need to have a cesarean birth, The Birthing Center is equipped with one operating room and one recovery room nearby. The private suites include a Jacuzzi tub for the laboring or post partum mother, a sleep couch for the support person, a TV/VCR unit, a rocking chair and table and chairs for meal time. The Birthing Center's meals are now offered in a room service fashion with an expanded menu for new mothers.
Our team of professionals are here to make your birthing experience special. Physicians, nurses, midwives and other professional staff ensure the safety of mom and baby during labor and delivery. We also provide special visiting hours to aid the recovery of our patients in a secure, supportive and healthful environment.
The Birthing Center's nurses are educated and specially trained in the benefits and techniques of lactation. Certified Lactation Consultants are available when mother/baby couples are experiencing breastfeeding difficulties. The Birthing Center also provides both telephone and in person consultations should breastfeeding difficulties arise after discharge from the hospital.
Visitation Hours
12:00 Noon to 8:00 pm
Fathers and support individuals will be given special identification for increased visitation during the laboring process.
Special Needs
Volunteer interpreters for many foreign languages are available to assist patients and their families who do not speak English. The hospital also subscribes to The Language Bank, should a local volunteer not be available. Certified Sign Language Interpreters for the hearing impaired can also be arranged. Please let your nurse know if you need an interpreter.
