Our Benefits
As a Shore Health System (SHS) employee, and a part of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits program designed with you and your dependents in mind. Shore Health System's benefits programs provide many types of coverage from medical needs and retirement plans, to vacation time and child care services. Our programs offer choice and flexibility particularly in the areas of health coverage and retirement benefits. We also offer a wide range of additional benefits, including our employee wellness program, called Shore Shape.
TO YOUR HEALTH
Medical Insurance and Prescription Drug Plan
SHS offers two health care plan options from which to choose. Prescription drug and vision care benefits are included in each plan. Coverage is available on the first day of the month following date of hire for eligible full-time and part-time employees and their dependents, including domestic partners. Employees can enroll in one of four categories of coverage (individual, parent/child, employee/spouse/domestic partner and family). The cost of coverage is shared between SHS and employees.
Dental Insurance
Shore Health System's Dental Program provides 100 percent coverage for the first $200 in covered dental expenses; 75 percent of the next $800; 50 percent of the next $1,400. Maximum benefit per person in a plan year is $1,500
Voluntary Vision Care
SHS employees may purchase additional vision coverage through Spectera. Employees may choose between two vision benefit options. A standard plan and a high-option plan.
Disability Insurance
SHS employees receive 60% of base pay after twenty-one days disability; this benefit requires a one year eligibility period. Employees also have the ability to voluntarily buy additional short-term disability coverage.
Flexible Spending Account
Employees may set aside pre tax dollars which can be used for either health care and/or dependent care expenses. Employee can elect up to $4,000 for the health care account and $5,000 for the dependant care account.
Shore Shape
A voluntary comprehensive employee wellness program offering, discounts on medical premiums, classes on exercise, diet/nutrition, stress management, fitness center discounts, and other wellness initiatives that will enhance the quality of your work and your personal life.
COMPETITIVE PAY
On-call pay
$2.50 per hour and employee is compensated at time and half if called in. A minimum of two hours of call back time is provided.
Shift Differential
Employees earning less than $10.00 per hour, $1.00 for evening shift, $1.25 night shift. Employees earning $10.00 or more per hour, 10% of base hourly rate for evening shift, 15% of base hourly rate for night shift, 8% weekend differential for all employees.
Time Off
Holidays
Six paid holidays per year and one Personal Floating Day. The paid holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day; Full-time employees receive eight hours of paid time and part-time employees receive four hours.
Personal Annual Leave (PAL)
PAL hours are earned each pay period to provide employees paid time off for vacations, illness, or personal business. Accrual rate depends on employment category, length of service and hours worked.
Life Insurance and Retirement
Life Insurance
Provided at no cost to the employee; SHS provides coverage for one times annual base salary ($200,000 maximum); Supplemental or Permanent life coverage available through payroll deduction, effective first of the month following 90 days of employment.
Retirement Savings Plan
SHS offers employees the opportunity to contribute to a 401(k) Plan through Fidelity Investments. Employee is eligible to contribute the first of the month following date of hire. After a year of continuous employment in a benefited status, SHS will match half of the employee's contribution up to maximum of 3% (vesting is on a graded schedule). In addition, a base contribution of 3% of the employee's gross wages will be funded with one year of service and 1000 hours worked (base contribution is 100% vested).
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
Education
Employees receive up to $3,000 for full time and $1,500 for part time employment per academic year. One year of continuous employment required for eligibility.
